Afterschool Care

 Afterschool Fun Club – 2011-2012 School YearKindergarten thru 5th gradeThe after school club will offer swimming two days a week, games, arts and crafts, team building exercises and plenty of fun for your child while you need to be at work.  We will also offer programs on the days when children have early outs or full days off from school.  Registration form with current immunization record must be received at the time of registration.  A non-refundable registration fee of $25/per family is required.   For more information or to register, stop by the YMCA for an enrollment packet.Location: First Christian ChurchTransportation: Provided, children are picked up at school and transported to activitiesLicense: Iowa Dept. of Human ServicesContact: Colleen Gangestad at 782-9622Hours: Afterschool-6:00 PM

Change Where You Change Campaign

The YMCA is the nation’s leading NONPROFIT organization for youth development, healthy  living, and social responsibility.  The Southern  Prairie YMCA implements programs reflecting these ideals to meet the needs of our community.  Our goal is to provide a healthy and safe facility for all ages.  Younger school age children attend our affordable and fun summer day camp and afterschool  programs. Teens come after school to hang out with their friends.  Seniors and mid-lifers join young adults in land and water fitness classes, take laps on the indoor track, and build muscle tone  in the cardio and weight rooms.  The Southern Prairie YMCA has expanded  program opportunities to generate more activity in our facility.   Our current locker room areas need major renovations to keep up with the pace of our growing community.As a nonprofit organization, we must turn to members of our community for support of our capital campaign to “Change Where You Change”.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, January 20 Register at the Y or online at www.southernprairieymca.com COACHES MEETING: Thursday, January 26, 6:30 PM LOCATION: YMCA GYM FIRST DAY: Saturday, February 4 PICTURES: Saturday, February 11 (Pre-K & Kind. at 9 AM, 1st -4th at 8 AM)  Pre-K, KINDERGARTEN BOYS AND GIRLS MEMBERS: $10 PARTICIPANTS: $20 (t-shirt included) 2 week camp: Feb 4 and 11 8-9 AM Kids will learn fundamentals of dribbling, passing, and shooting.  1st - 4th GRADE BOYS AND GIRLS MEMBERS: $20 PARTICIPANTS: $40 (team colored t-shirt included) 9-10:30 AM 1st Week is a camp Last 3 Weeks will have 30 minutes of practice followed by games 1st and 2nd Graders will be teamed together 3rd and 4th Graders will be teamed together Each team will play one game per day Games are 2 - ten minute halves with continuous clock 5 Minute Halftime COACHES NEEDED! Coaches will also be refs
