Bank drafts have .50/month added service charge
No contracts. Joining fee is applied to all new joins or re-joins. Join fee for all membership types is $45. Membership can be paid for by convenient monthly automatic bank draft (Electronic Funds Transfer or EFT) on the 25th of each month or by paying the full annual rate using cash, check, Visa, Discover or MasterCard. Payroll Deduction where membership dues are withheld from employee paychecks and the employer pays the YMCA each month is another option for some. Check with the YMCA to see if your employer participates in this program.
Memberships in good standing and currently on bank draft may put their membership on hold for up to three consecutive months in a calendar year for $10/month. The $10 will be bank drafted in lieu of the regular amount, eliminating a new join fee charge. Normal billing automatically resumes at the end of the 3 months. For complete information contact the Office Manager.

YMCAs are charitable organizations here to serve people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and incomes. The YMCA is community-based and believes that its program and services should be available to everyone. That’s why we offer a Scholarship Program, which is a sliding fee scale designed to fit each individual’s financial situation. Charitable contributions to the YMCA enable us to provide financial assistance on a sliding scale. We promise that everyone who qualifies will receive assistance to the greatest extent possible based on the availability of funds.
To find out if you qualify for assistance, complete a financial assistance application and bring it to the Y along with verification on income. Financial Assistance Application.
Individuals may also qualify for a free membership through AmeriHealth Caritas Health Insurance. If you want to see if you qualify for a membership with AmeriHealth Caritas bring a copy of your insurance card and fill out a membership application.
The Southern Prairie YMCA participates in the AWAY program – ANY WHERE ANY Y. Your membership allows access to our facility and to many other YMCAs that recognize the AWAY program. Please present your membership card every time you use our facility. For YMCA members outside of the state of Iowa, we allow 10 free visits per calendar year for Y members visiting while on business or traveling. After 10 free visits, the per-visit charge is a regular day pass rate.
As a Southern Prairie YMCA member, you have access to YMCAs across Iowa free of charge through the My Y is Every Y program. Y members can access any YMCA in Iowa. Some restrictions may apply. Contact the local Y for their policy.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE IOWA MEMBERSHIP RECIPROCITY PROGRAM?
The program is for full facility/full privilege Y members (those holding adult, household, or senior memberships) whose home Y is located in Iowa.
DOES IT COST EXTRA TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROGRAM?
No, all active members may participate at no additional charge. The reciprocity program is intended to be an added benefit and convenience for members when visiting other communities. You need to maintain a current active membership at the Y you visit most frequently.
HOW OFTEN CAN I USE ONE OF THESE YMCAS? ARE THERE ANY RESTRICTIONS ON WHAT I CAN DO AT A PARTICULAR YMCA?
There is no limit on the number of visits by reciprocal members. We recommend members check the individual Y’s website before visiting. See ymca.net for a complete listing of all Ys.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO VERIFY THAT I AM A CURRENT Y MEMBER?
You must bring your photo ID (i.e. driver’s license) in order to utilize another Y. By providing these items the staff at the visiting Y will be able to verify your current Y membership. It is mandatory that you bring a government issued photo ID with you.
